TriState (Plus) Conference
on Animal Learning & Behavior
TriState is the premiere animal
learning and behavior meeting in the Midwest. This
page provides a web home for the meeting. Archival information about
past meetings and available information about the upcoming meeting appear
here.
Description:
TriState(Plus) provides an opportunity for investigators of animal behavior
to get together regularly to discuss their work, share ideas, and generally
have a good time. The conference has occurred more or less annually
since 1987, and originally involved psychologists from Indiana, Kentucky,
& Ohio. Recent meetings have drawn people from Michigan, ...,
and even Ontario, Canada.
The conference is loosely organized at best - even the existence of this
web page bothers some regular attendees because it suggests a level of organization
that does not exist. Nonetheless, the conferences typically run smoothly
and offer lots of fertile scientific discussion.
TriState normally occurs in April or May, depending on the schedule of
the hosting institution. The conference typically lasts from early
afternoon on one day to lunchtime the next day. There is no registration
fee, and the host institution provides lodging, dinner, and breakfast.

The 22nd annual meeting of the Tri-State+ Conference on Animal Learning
and Behavior will be held at Albion College on April 3 & 4, 2009 (3:00
Friday afternoon through Saturday 1:00 pm - times still somewhat tentative).
The meeting offers a chance for you and your students to interact with
others with shared interests, and to hear about current research. Over the
past several years people have attended from the original three states (IN,
KY, OH) as well as from MI, and Ontario, Canada. In accordance with (recent)
past practice, priority will be given to student presentations; faculty
presentations are also welcome and will be scheduled if time permits.
Please let me (wjwilson@albion.edu)
know by Feb 27 how many people are coming from your institution.
Call for Abstracts: If you (or a student) plan to present a talk
(20-min including time for questions - maybe reduced to 15 min if there are
lots of submissions) please email (wjwilson@albion.edu)
a title and an abstract (250 words or less) by March
20. Please be sure to include the names of all authors, and specify
which will be the presenting author. Receipt of the abstract by March 20
will allow time for scheduling and for the preparation of a program. I will
try to accommodate all who wish to present, but preference will be given to
student presenters and to presenters traveling to the meeting (sorry, Albion
folks).
